Ford P0471 OBD-II Trouble Code Definition:
P0471 Exhaust Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
P0471 Ford OBD-II Trouble CodeDescription:
OBD Trouble Code P0471
Exhaust Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
What does the code mean? OBD-ii Code P0471 definition:
The exhaust back pressure (EBP) sensor is a variable capacitance sensor that, when supplied with a 5-volt reference signal from the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), produces a linear analog voltage signal that indicates pressure. The EBP sensor’s primary function is to measure exhaust back pressure so that the PCM can control the exhaust back pressure regulator (EPR) when needed.

Symptoms Sumptoms of OBD code P0471
– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
– Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
Causes Causes of the OBD-II code P0471
– Exhaust Back Pressure Sensor The Error code is generally activated on detection of the following conditions: An EBP signal that is detected out of range (high or low) by the PCM will cause the engine to ignore the EBP signal and disable exhaust back pressure operation.
